Archaeologicol site of Chassey le Camp.
The "Camp de Chassey", known under the name of "Camp Romain" lies on a narrow plateau which is bordered by rocky outcrops and strengthened by defense constructions from the bronze age.The excavations from 1865 gave evidence of a neolithic civilisation, coming from the mediterranean area : the "Chasséen".
There are also remnants of a gallo-roman sanctuary.

An exhibition of excavated neolithic objects is shown in hotel premises.
But the most important things found in the 19th century are kept in the following museums : Musée Rolin in Autun,
Musée Denon in Châlon sur Saône,
and Musée Régnier in Mont Saint Vincent. Within an hour's drive from the hotel, you could discover another archaeologicol resort:
. The "Rock of Solutre" ( A 60 Km )

A geological phenomenon, with prehistoric relics,also made famous by former french president François Miterrand who ritually climbed it for about 40 years as a pilgrimage .
Not far away is the village of Chardonnay, which gave its name to one of the most famous grapes used to make Burgundian wine. Burgundy is dotted with magnificent chateaux and monuments.

• The Beaune Hospices ( 20 km ):
  A medieval hospital, the world's most famous and beautiful hospital, founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, and roofed with superb geometric multicoloured tiles .
  An annual auction of wines takes place here each November to raise funds for the hospital.

• The Château of Rochepot ( 18 km ):

  A visit to the famous 13th century Chateau at Rochepot is not to be missed. Perched on its outcrop of solid rock, it is one of the most photogenic in France.
  At the end of the 19th century, Colonel Sadi Carnot, then owner of the castle, carefully restored it as it had been partially destroyed during the French Revolution.
  The fortress is entered via a drawbridge. Once inside, the visitor will see the chapel, the guards'room, the imposing kitchen, the "Chinese Room" and many rooms with painted murals and Gothic and Renaissance furniture.

• The elegant and magnificent castle of Marguerite de Bourgogne has been standing a few miles from Couches for ten centuries. The castle was to become an impressive fortress of the 12th century.
  St Louis's grand daughter, Marguerite de Bourgogne, Queen of France, is said to have lived there in her late years, accused of adultery by her husband, King Louis X le Hutin, and repudiated by him.
